That image of women racing each other for the chance to be the first to vote [In reply to] Can't Post

brightens my morning. :) If only that attitude would continue! Heck, I can't even talk my dunder-headed nephew in getting off his butt to cast a vote. Unsure

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

In the U.S., many of us who grew up in the 70's and 80's [In reply to] Can't Post

watched a series of shorts called Schoolhouse Rock, which snuck entertaining education in between Saturday morning cartoons in the age before home media and some other factors killed that institution. One of my favorite shorts - and I suspect that of many young girls - was one of the America Rock shorts called Sufferin' 'til Suffrage, in which our superhero garbed heroine taught us about the 19th Amendment. I still find myself humming the tune sometimes over 30 years later :-).
