Feeling ignored. Can't Post

So I came back from a couple months hiatus, which I've done a couple times, and no one's responded to my posts. Wondering if people are deliberately ignoring my posts.

I always follow my job through.

Not at all, ange. [In reply to] Can't Post

The boards are slow these days, that's all. If you open a thread and scroll down to one of your replies, you'll see below your nickname a line that shows how many people have seen your post - people might not reply, but they do see what you've written.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

No, I don't think so. [In reply to] Can't Post

Things are just really slow around here right now, and sometimes people read but just don't feel like they have anything to say. I think everyone has bouts of feeling like nobody is interested in what they are saying.

Under cloud and under star
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.

Sometimes when I'm the last person to post in a thread I wonder if I killed the thread.

I'm sparing you such angst - you're welcome.

and dropped many stones into the pond without seeing a single ripple.

As for the post count.... does that actually count people reading each individual post or simply opening up the thread after that post has been made?

Depends [In reply to] Can't Post

on whether the people are using Flat or Threaded. Threaded logs individual reads, but threaded logs a read for all posts when the thread is opened. I guess it assumes you're going to read all the new comments when you open it.

The way is shut - [In reply to] Can't Post

It was made by those who are dead, and the dead keep it.

The way is shut.

Which reminds me -- and this is relevant to this thread I think, for a change -- some people only visit, and then, only rarely post in, select clusters here.

Well this is a thing unheard of! An Elf will go underground, where a Dwarf dare not! Oh, I'd never hear the end of it!

There are many times I see a post, and plan to come back to it [In reply to] Can't Post

I always seem to be running around and very busy, but there are posts I want to spend time with.... so I wait (especially if they're long posts). Then *hangs head* I often forget to go back and scroll down. I have a post I've been working on a response for 3 days!

So it doesn't mean I'm not engaged in what's posted, I just have poor time and response management :(

Quiet times often happen, especially during the summer when people are working outside or traveling. We've reprised the Walk to Rivendell weekly posts that seem to just lay there, but I can see that people are reading it... same with the TIME posts. I see they're being viewed, so I know they're giving some entertainment to posters... and that makes it fun for me :)

Hang in there! No response doesn't mean its a bad thing :) In all the years I've been here, I have NEVER heard of or seen posters being ignored a'purpose. Please don't despair! :D

Hi! / [In reply to] Can't Post

Queen Beruthiel, Queen Beruthiel, there's no one like Queen Beruthiel,
She's broken every Gondor law, she breaks the law of Earendil.
Her powers of feline-ation would make Aiwendil stare,
And when you reach the scene of crime - Queen Beruthiel's not there!
You may seek her in the Hallows, you may search throughout the square –
But I tell you once and once again, Queen Beruthiel's not there!

Sometimes when I'm the last person to post in a thread I wonder if I killed the thread.

...because I can't tell you how many times I've felt that way (not necessarily just here, but on other boards).

It's never true, of course, but you just think that people see that you've posted on a topic, and all of a sudden there's a big "CONTAMINATED" sign on the thread... Laugh

We've definitely all been there. Tongue

"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that."

Oh yes. [In reply to] Can't Post

Nothing like coming in late and hearing nothing but crickets to make a person paranoid.

Of course sometimes when you're the Moderator it is actually true that you've killed it, whether or not you intended to. Tongue
