Obscene language Can't Post

all gone Smile

******************************************
The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.

Hmmm [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't recall any language there that I would have called obscene, but I might be overlooking a term that we tend to gloss over in the U.S. It's moot now.

Oh, yes! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's a word that would definitely shock our English speaking brethren across the pond, down under, and on the Indian subcontinent! It's....

Ah, very clever! I see what you did there!

It's not really a problem [In reply to] Can't Post

Actually some of the words you guys use don't really shock us exactly, it's more they have us rolling around laughing when we apply our use of the words to them. And, of course, some of the words that we don't worry about too much can leave you guys shocked.

Language is fun LaughSmileCool

*We've been discussing linguistic shifts in one of the Uni Choice classes I mentor at my local university, we've had some really interesting discussions, especially as it starts with a reading of Beowulf in Old English, a lot of the students think it's Elvish Cool *
