Question - How is it possible for someone to reply to and quote a deleted post? Can't Post

Is it because the deleted post was made in response to something they wrote and got sent directly to them?

Should they also have received a note that the post was deleted? An indication that the poster rethought and did not wish to engage in a conversation.

Sorry! I got your post via email. [In reply to] Can't Post

Perhaps I shouldn't have responded. My apologies if I violated a protocol. If a mod cares to delete that response, I have no objection. It does in retrospect seem a bit unfair!

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
