I want to say all of them but its [In reply to] Can't Post

Most likely DOS and FOTR. Seems to be the family's go to films of Middle-earth!Wink

"Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Lúthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed."

For me, it's all or nothing at all... [In reply to] Can't Post

Now I prefer to watch them as a marathon and will wait until I have the time to do just that so I can get lost in that world ;)

If I were to counsel someone new to the films of what to watch, it would definitely be FotR and/or TH:AUJ. Then it's kinda like eating potato chips... bet you can't do just one ;)

We have been there and back again.

well said, grammaboodawg [In reply to] Can't Post

I also prefer to watch them all in a marathon, but if I HAD to choose one, it would be FOTR for LOTR and AUJ for The Hobbit.

All of them... [In reply to] Can't Post

I can say that with absolute confidence because when I watch them again I watch them all - in installments - and always have. When there was one I watched one; then two, and so on. They're one story to me and that's how I enjoy them.

Most (and least) [In reply to] Can't Post

Most Watchable: The Lord of the RIngs: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Least Watchable: Filmation's The Return of the King (1980).

That's a point.... I never thought of other Middle-earth films [In reply to] Can't Post

My least watchables in that case would be the Rankin Bass Hobbit and the Bakshi Lord of the Rings, neither of which I would ever watch again.

Oops! [In reply to] Can't Post

The above post from dormouse reminded me that the animated Hobbit and Return of the King TV movies were produced by Rankin/Bass, not Filmation. I knew that, but messed up anyway.

Thanks, mouse!

Whew, tough question! [In reply to] Can't Post

I just watched FoTR again with my youngest grandchild Friday, and over the weekend rewatched AUJ, hmmm.... Can't decide - I could re-watch any of them at any time.

I'd say I've entered my second childhood, but I never left the first!

Ah, the cartoons [In reply to] Can't Post

Honestly, I don't think I can consider any of them. To be honest, never saw the "RoTK" followup to the "LoTR" cartoon. From what you've said, I see no reason to bother.

I'd say I've entered my second childhood, but I never left the first!
