Extended Scenes Can't Post

Hi, I was watching for the first time the special extended dvd preview from the bonus disc of the theatrical edition of Fellowship of the Ring, and I noticed PJ said the following:

''Everything in this edition, every single component of it was specially shot and edited and exclusively just for this deluxe DVD edition''.

Has he make a mistake, or is this true? Because I thought the all 3 movies were shot at once, including the extended scenes, and PJ just edited those scenes back into the film.

So which is correct, what I thought or what PJ said? I guessed someone here must know that. Thanks. Wink

Hmmm... [In reply to] Can't Post

Interesting... God I hope we get a super extended edition one day! (Since it is unlikely we will ever get another ME film)

I think..... [In reply to] Can't Post

He's talking there about the extensive and detailed behind the scenes documentaries and featurettes that are included in the Extended Editions. Those were planned and made with the special DVD releases in mind. They had a dedicated crew for documenting all the aspects of the production specially for all those incredible little mini-films about the process of bringing the films from the page to the screen. Those are entirely exclusive to those editions.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.

That would certainly make more sense. [In reply to] Can't Post

Though the wording PJ used was nevertheless confusing, I think.

Yes... [In reply to] Can't Post

PJ doesn't always give context in the midst of his enthusiasm. At the time, there was a lot of marketing and media attention for the special features, and I think it was sort of assumed that people would know what was being talked about.
