Top Ten scenes/sequences in the times of the landmark ee Hobbit Trilogy Can't Post

Hey Oh.

Now that abit of time has passed and things have settled, i thought it might be interesting to re-watch the trilogy as a whole, with this in mind. In a way it's a rather impossible task and will always be somewhat slapdash and random drawing lines in sand in how to do, so with that said, here are mine Smile

An Unexpected Journey: to preface this list for it, will add that in general i find this film provides a wild and episodic adventure in middle earth and it's lore with the background of a new epic ME history slowly emerging as a shared fate with the characters.
-Erebor tale
-Balin's story Moria and Thorin
-Rune moonlight and Azog at hilltop
-High Council at Elronds
-Gollum and Bilbo (tad to long some Gollum stuff but ex all the same)
-Azog and wargs cliff top confrontation

Desolation of Smaug: as a preface to movie in general, i find this movie has a more singular atmospheric of a sombre and edgy type of danger through out in it's dramatic tone.
-Azog to Dol Guldor
-All Beorn scenes
-atmosphere in forest
-Thranduil and Thorin
-Thranduil, Tauriel and Bilbo invisible
-Barrel riding
-Gandlaf and Ragadast in tombs
-Orc Prisoner/Bolg hunting party/Barge
-Prophecy
-Town Square meeting
-Up the mountain
-Gandalf at Dol Guldor
-Entering into Erebor
-Gandalf vs Sauron
-Bilbo search treasure halls-Smaug repeatedly thwarted and flailing around in dwarvian forge backdrops, Smaug bashing into door.

Battle of the Five Armies: for it's preface to list, i find this film has alot of plot points that happen in the ending of arcs along with adding plot lore for LotRs, best music of the three, old time gothic in it's psychology & cinematic color, best overall acting as a singular story package (although the acting been great through out), the best standalone film to watch out of the three.
-Laketown fire, Bard roodtops & Smaug death
-Tauriel & Kili lakeside good bye
-Thorin revealed inside the mountain
-Dol Guldor
-Thranduil tent scenes
-Gundabad armies emerge, Tauriel & Leggy overlook
-Thorin giving Bilbo Mithril and then scene turning nightmarish
-Rampart confrontations, Thorin, Thranduil, Bard, Arkenstone
-Alfred, 'charge! to the death!' moment
-battle sequence where Orcs pasting everyone
-Ravenhill battles
-Bolg vs Legolas
- Azog and Thorin deaths

MY TOP TEN IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER OUT OF THESE

* Ravenhill battles in general (Legolas vs Bolg, Azog & Thorin deaths)
* Dol Guldor high council in general (Galadriel rescue, banishment of Sauron)
* Laketown rooftops, Smaug death
* Mithril giving scene, Bilbo & Thorin, fate marching to war
* Gandalf vs Sauron
* Last light of Durin's day, entering in Erebor
* Bard remembering the Laketowner's prophecy
* City square type public meeting of Laketown
* Azog & Wargs cliff top confrontation
* Balin's story Moria and Thorin

Re-watch [In reply to] Can't Post

Over the holidays i rewatched (by coincidence) the trilogy on tv, although i have EEs on blu-ray.

Here are film moment for me (not EE as i just watched TE).
AUJ. The best for me. The atmosphere, feeling. I could write many more scenes:
-Shire
-Erebor tale
-Dwarves at the Shire
-Gandalf, Bilbo scenes (good morning, books)
-Journey
-Balin's story
-Rivendel
-Rune moonlight
-Goblins
-Gollum and Bilbo
-Bilbo (you don't have home) scene
-Eagles
...

DOS:
-Prancing pony
-Company running from orcs and Beorn
-Beorn
-Forrest and spiders
-Elves (Thranduil, Legolas, Tauriel) with dwarves
-Gandalf in tombs
-Bard
-Prophecy
-Town square
-Up the mountain
-Entering into Erebor
-Bilbo vs Smaug
-Ending
...

BOFA: Surprisingly, rewatching it, it had much more of emotional weigt, than the first time i watched it (or second).
-Laketown, Bard, Smaug
-Dwarves inside the mountain
-Dol Guldor
-Thranduil tent scenes
-Legolas mother story at Gundabad
-Thorin giving Bilbo Mithril
-Thorin and dwarves (Dwalin) confrontation
-Rampart confrontations, Thorin, Thranduil, Bard, Arkenstone
-Thorins meltdown
-Some of battle
-Ravenhill battles
-Bolg vs Legolas
-Azog and Thorin deaths
-Shire, ending
...

Throughout BOFA i was asking myself, how much better the film could be (DOS, BOFA), if PJ had time. Why didn't they postponed release date one year back or even half a year. I still cannot ignore bad CGI (AUJ sleigh, DOS arriving at the forrest, DOS some scenes by the barge, you can clearly see blue screen when Bard is confronting dwarves - chroma key compositing, BOFA many scenes, bad compositing). Not the standard of Weta digital (and PJ). And why they didn't update CGI for EE (money, other projects).
And soundtrack could be used better in BOFA.

But overall i really like the whole trilogy. It had big impact on me this weekend. And i love AUJ. BOFA could be much more, but i was still very happy and satisfied with it (hope for SEE with deleted scenes Wink )

I did! [In reply to] Can't Post

For me the Dol Goldur subplot answered a question I had in the book: just where did Gandalf go? It kind of bothered me that he left and then just re-appeared with no explanation.

I'd say I've entered my second childhood, but I never left the first!

The question is answered in the book (sort of). [In reply to] Can't Post

One does need to be paying attention to the final chapters, when Bilbo and Gandalf return to Hobbiton. During their stay at Rivendell, Gandalf gives a partial explanation of his activities after leaving the company at Mirkwood. This is also our first introduction to what would later be revealed to be the White Council.
