Roman numeral repair needed? Can't Post

Not sure it's my place to ask, since it's not my post... but the previous Hobbit caption contest was XLVI, so this one should be XLVII, not XLV.

So is this the real reason the Roman Empire fell? [In reply to] Can't Post

Their numerical system was too confusing even for them to follow?

"Dear Caesar, I need MCMCLVI troops to fight off the enemy hordes, which have been counted as MIVXILOTSnLOTS--I don't know, but there are lots of them!"

Reply: "Dear Legion General, hungover from the orgy last night, sending you VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII troops. That's a lot, right? Hope it helps. Peace out."

There's a reason the Arabs ran all over most of the former Roman Empire. Just sayin'. Smile

Obviously! [In reply to] Can't Post

They just couldn't cope with the change to the old system. Angelic

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.

Oops, sorry..... [In reply to] Can't Post

...I put it down *cough* to the disorientating effect of putting the clocks forward... or back... or was that sideways...

*Ducks back into the teapot and closes the lid....

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood and every spring
there is a different green. . .
