hi --
heads up... cannot vote. all i see are text strings, instead of things to click on to vote.
hope this is fixed before 10pm ET, or that voting is extended, as i cannot vote. :(

the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield."
this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel telpemairo

ah, i forgot that this would also be posted on the other part of the site. :)
i had to go do something else, and did not see your reply in time (but it was so nice of you to respond so quickly, +thank you+ :) ).
a great deal of the winners in this round were those for whom i would have voted. would have loved to have thrown my support to some others, like eowyn, regardless... but i did get a chance to cast one vote, since one of the polls was mistakenly left open after 10pm ET.
would have been great to see more female names from the books, since there are lots (e.g., idril, nerdanel, indis, haleth, etc.), but i enjoyed some others (barrow wights, dain's pig, the moths, finrod, feanor, etc.).
thank you to all for the hard work pulling this together.
