Farewell, Johnny B. Goode! Chuck Berry dies at age 90... Can't Post

Ridin' along in my calaboose
Still trying to get her belt a-loose
All the way home I held a grudge
For the safety belt that wouldn't budge
Crusin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go

Loved Chuck Berry. Learning 'Johnny B. Goode' and trying to outdo every other version of the song was what aspiring guitarists did back in the day.

Please visit my blog...The Dark Elf File...a slighty skewed journal of music and literary comment, fan-fiction and interminable essays.

Go, Johnny, go, go Johnny B. Goode [In reply to] Can't Post

My father is not one for rock and roll but this was considered country ....

His favorite verse is
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Or sit beneath the tree by the railroad track.
Oh, the engineers would see him sitting in the shade,
Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made.
The people passing by, they would stop and say,
"Oh, my, but that little country boy could play!"

My dad would say... "That's me and my dad... we'd do that."....

An interesting article on his lasting impact on music [In reply to] Can't Post

There are many articles out there about his influence, but this one was written by someone who writes from the heart.

~Sometimes you have a problem, the kind you can't erase,
sometimes it jumps up and slaps you in the face.
Don't run around in circles, don't scream and don't shout,
just put your head together and figure it out.
Figure it out, baby, figure it out.
Figure it out, baby, figure it out!~

I remember when Marty went over-the-top of his impression of him in Back to the Future. [In reply to] Can't Post

"Chuck! Chuck, it's Marvin. Your cousin, Marvin Berry. You know that new sound you're looking for? Well, listen to this!"

I always follow my job through.
