Some lovely tributes from those who worked with him on Firefly. Farewell, Shepherd. May you rest in peace.

Met Mr. Glass at a Firefly convention a few years ago. He was polite and humorous. I remember him in Barney Miller from decades ago and of course Firefly.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. I first knew of Ron Glass through Barney Miller, but I'll remember him mostly from Firefly and Serenity. As it happens, I am presently re-reading the Serenity tie-in novel.

What a horrible year. Farewell, Shephard. "...can't order me around, boy....I'm not one of your crew..." "Yes, you are."
"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that." - Viggo Mortensen

71 feels too young.

It's so sad! It seems strange because Barney Miller wasn't aimed at children, but watching Barney Miller is a prominent memory from my childhood, and his character, Det. Harris, was my favorite. I didn't realize he was on Firefly; it's nice to know he played a part in another generation's memories. RIP, Mr. Glass.
