How do you grasp your writing implement? Can't Post

(Inspired by one of Annael's 'Getting to Know You' questions):

Ever since a child I have been told that I do not hold my pen/pencil correctly which makes my handwriting very messy and difficult to read. No, I'm not left-handed.

But there must be other weirdos out there? So, using the pictures below, how do you grasp your pen?

I don't really fall into any of the above categories. I wrap my thumb around the pen in between my index and middle finger, and then the nib rests in between my middle finger and ring finger.

I put other. [In reply to] Can't Post

I grasp the pen with my thumb and forefinger and rest the pen/pencil on the end knuckle of my middle finger.

Other, I think... [In reply to] Can't Post

I hold it between thumb and forefinger, resting it on the middle finger around the upper joint with the other fingers tucked in behind it. Sort of.... And I'm right-handed

Pencil callus on my ring finger too. My middle brother does the same though everyone else is "normal".

I use E, but my grandmother said G is correct [In reply to] Can't Post

She kept trying to teach me the Palmer method she learned, and to relax my hand, but I never had the patience.Unsure

It appears “G” for me [In reply to] Can't Post

My thumb and middle-finger control the vertical; my thumb and forefinger control the horizontal (or something Wink).

Sounds like the intro. to The Outer Limits: “Do not attempt to adjust the picture . . . We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical.” Cool

I think it's E. [In reply to] Can't Post

I have always held my pen that way and have a bump on my middle finger's first joint to show for it. There is also a small callous on the second joint of the pinky finger where it rubs along on the paper.

My hand writing is legible, but not particularly attractive. My sister in law works for a title company that has all the old hand-written titles and deeds in their physical plant. Some of that script is beautiful!

I rest the pen/pencil between the thumb and index finger, gripping in between the index and middle finger.

I had trouble . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

telling what the pictures were showing. I even used a magnifying glass. I kind of used the picture and the description and didn't see what I do. Maybe it is because I have such long fingers, I have more finger sticking out past the pen.

I missed that. "E' seems about right (for a mirror image) for how I hold a pen/pencil.

E looks closest [In reply to] Can't Post

Though the diagrams are a little difficult to see properly. I rest it on my third finger and secure it with my thumb and index finger. Mum's always told me I hold it wrong, but looks like a lot of people here do the same! At any rate it works for me; my handwriting is the neatest, other than maybe Mum's, in our family of eleven.

places fingers on home keys, still can't type... [In reply to] Can't Post

kind of E-ish, but with thumb over pen...

I can mirror write with my left hand, but it's messy (due to lack of practice).

I think I type dyslexic, sometimes mixing up the sequence of letters...
