The Watcher doesn't have a vorpal blade, and obviously tearing down the Tumtum tree isn't going to do a lick of good. On the other hand the Jabberwock can catch the Watcher with his claws that catch, and then bite it with his jaws that bite. No way the Watcher is going to do any galumphing back from this fight!
