"Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Lúthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed."

If you're using Google Chrome, [In reply to] Can't Post

you can't put them directly in a post. I always switch to Internet Explorer if I need to insert an image. Then you can hit "Advanced Editor" below the writing area, and there's an "insert image" icon second from the right in the toolbar.

If you only have access to Google Chrome you can upload your pics as attachments instead (again, there's a button below the writing area).

For sure fates and fame,
But the men that drink the blood of God
Go singing to their shame."

Yes you can insert images while using Chrome, [In reply to] Can't Post

it just takes more steps.

OldestDaughter: you'll need to resized the image to TORN's guidelines (in our Frequently Asked Questions in the Welcome section), upload it to a photo-sharing website (e.g. Photobucket), then use HTML to paste the photo's link into your TORN post. The Get Markup Help section, via a button that appears when you're using basic editor, is very helpful with the HTML side of things.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

putting this here for ease of reference [In reply to] Can't Post

I've had to look up my same question from earlier this summer/fall often. and I always end up struggling to remember the precise answer i'm looking for -- i.e. re-deciphering the answers given. so i might as well take the time now to do it a final time so i can refer back to it easier in the future.

these are the instructions for posting an image inline with the basic editor (since i hate swapping back to IE just to get something to post). these assume that the image has already been sized appropriately according to the FAQ Ataahua refers to.

if wanting to use an image on your PC:

- type your post as desired.
- click on the Attachment 'choose file' under the composition box.
- go browse to your (appropriately sized) image, select it and click 'open' on the dialog box.
- click the 'Inline' box.
- click the 'Upload attachment' button.
- in the desired location of the text type [Inline imagename.filetype] (obviously replacing imagename & filetype with the actuals from the file chosen

EDIT -- I see now that it's in the TORn 201 FAQ, #2.21 (second half of the paragraph)

Posting link manually [In reply to] Can't Post

If you just want to post the image manually, it works almost just like posting a hot link.

You have the image address, and instead of starting and ending it with 'url' and '/url' within brackets, you use 'img' and '/img'.
