Middle-earth ABCDarius Game - Continuing from Round Vii, H) in new thread Can't Post

Some rumblings and puffs of smoke, are apparently, beginning to issue from our beloved servers, which may not like it if a post goes >200 replies. So, let's take out game to a new post to prevent any trouble.

Rules recap - its a series of rhyming couplets A is for..., B is for...
B rhymes with A
D rhymes with C
and so on.

(Look at the old post, http://newboards.theonering.net/...i?post=917193#917193) for many examples)

here we start at Round VII, H - I suggest if we get to Z then whoever wants to do Round VIII A starts a new thread.

Crazy

It was a foggy day in London, and the fog was heavy and dark. Animate London, with smarting eyes and irritated lungs, was blinking, wheezing, and choking; inanimate London was a sooty spectre, divided in purpose between being visible and invisible, and so being wholly neither. - Our Mutual Friend, Charles Dickens.

It is said by the Eldar that in water there lives yet the echo of the Music of the Ainur more than in any substance that is in this Earth; and many of the Children of Ilúvatar hearken still unsated to the voices of the Sea, and yet know not for what they listen. - The Silmarillion, J. Sneaking in some (nonrhyming) thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

It's been hard to post cheers to excellent rhymes without throwing off the threading. But believe me, if there was a like button I would have got lots of use from it during this game!

So just wanted to thank noWizardme for initiating this very fun game.

And give some shoutouts:

Challenging suggestions for rhyming: I thought TheHutt's breakfast was a real poser; then Darkstone followed it with Gollum, Bergil, obscenities, panic. And then Bracegirdle thought we could find rhymes for Bracegirdle, Lothlorien and Bundushathűr! And we did!

Clever surmounting of rhyming challenges: almost too many to mention. I love these:

rhyming breakfast - V is Vorondil who hunted and trekked fast.... by dormouse
rhyming started - B is for Beleg who was very warm hearted by malickfan
rhyming fair - F is for Faramir, a-ranging in mohair. by Meneldor
rhyming panic - Z is for Zaragamba, a name not Germanic… by Bracegirdle
rhyming Gollum - B is for Beren, Carcharoth the wolf did maul him. by enanito
rhyming Bergil - J is a journey from Shire to the Bree-hill.... by dormouse
rhyming obscenities - L is for Legolas, he of the shield-surfing sensibilities. by ange1e4e5
rhyming swift - N is for Necromancer, Free People he miffed. by Bracegirdle
rhyming larder - T for Teeth of Mordor covered with tartar by sevilodorf
rhyming grounded - Voronwe for V, who alone was not drownded... by dormouse
rhyming under - X is for the eXile Realms of Arnor and Gondor. by Darkstone

Really laughed out loud at dormouse rhyming Bracegirdle with
"Noro lim!" the Elves shout as their horse jumps a hurdle.

Love the poetry in noWIzardme describing Huorns as "tree-ghosts that can walk"

Love Darkstone describing Entmoot as a "wooden board meeting"

Cheers to Bracegirdle, the most prolific player.

Cheers to ange1e4e5 for offering more challenges than rhymes - very generous, since the rhymes are the fun part.

Did you know? We've used Tom Bombadil four times and each time for a different letter. Seems appropriate for Tolkien's patron saint of nonsense rhyme :)

Whether we go on or not... it's been so much fun. Thank you.
