Sean Bean's best line in LOTR

Another poll! What's your favourite Sean Bean line in the LOTR trilogy? Personally I went for "What?" (remember in TTT when Faramir looks over Boromir's shoulder and sees Denethor. Boromir laughs lightly and asks "What?") The laugh is so brilliantly natural... What does everyone else think?

The matter-of-fact delivery of 'they have a cave troll'

wins it for me, although 'It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing. Such a little thing' is an excellent addition to the script. It gives a wonderful insight into Boromir's mind and illuminates the seductive nature of the Ring.

Showed how much he repented for his temptations and his doubts of Aragorn, and it showed that he truly did see him as his brother in arms. One of the most beautiful dialogues in the whole Middle-earth film saga.

along the lines of "um guys? it's worse than we think" than matter-of-fact, but the delivery is perfect from a seasoned warrior realizing just what he's up against. I would have voted for "My brother" but really, that falls in the category of "best line PJ added to the script" and Sean's delivery just sealed the deal.

"They have a cave troll" was said in a courageous-warrior-resigning-himself-to-the-fact-it-is-about-as-bad-as-it-could-get-and-it-just-got-even-worse kinda tone....

But I had to choose "I would have followed you to the end, my brother - my captain - my king" over "Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?"

...though I remember finding the behind the scenes interviews about this scene rather amusing, IIRC (I might be wrong) they filmed the before/after scenes with a lunch break in between, so Bean spent ages working up to a massive emotional moment, died, went off and had lunch, then came back and at on the floor as a corpse for a while... Bean's performance as Boromir is certainly one of my favorites in the film.

I haven't seen many of the behind-the-scenes for the LOTR's,(I need to though!) but that is funny about what they did in between the scene! Shows you can still have some fun no matter how emotional a scene can be!

Thanks for shining a light on Boromir. He's one of my favorite characters in the movies, in large part due to Sean Bean's portrayal. I think he was just brilliant. Many great lines, too. Thanks!

He's one of my favourite actors in LOTR too, although my absolute favourite LOTR actor varies - one day it could be Christopher Lee, another Ian McKellen or Viggo Mortensen.

I've only seen most of the FOTR behind-the-scenes documentaries, and the FOTR director and producers' commentary. Whenever I sit down to watch one of the Appendixes I always end up watching the actual film - I can't bear to watch the artists talking about something without actually going and watching it, and the rest of the movie as well, to get it in "perspective"

Really liked that line, mainly because it showed how much Boromir had accepted Aragorn, how much he'd grown from his statement at the Council of Elrond "Gondor has no King. Gondor needs no King."

...because I love the way they handled that whole relationship and one of the delights of the film for me was actually seeing more of it exists in the book. But I could equally have chosen the silver trumpets, or his last words to Aragorn, or "What?" or the Ring "Such a little thing."

Honestly, I think he was my favorite actor in LOTR. He was absolutely perfect and my only regret was that I thought he would have been a better Aragorn than Viggo Mortensen.

I can't really imagine Sean Bean as Aragorn for some reason. But I think Viggo Mortensen was perfect for Aragorn, and Sean Bean was perfect for Boromir

WORD. Always thought so myself. Sean Bean has the gravitas that Tolkien gave Aragorn's character; I think he could have carried out the king-in-exile thing beautifully. But PJ was after angst instead (as he was with most of his characters), and Viggo certainly delivered on that.

said he said it like someone who's just walked into work on Monday morning to find that everything went pear-shaped over the weekend and there's a hundred fires that need putting out instantly would say "I hate Mondays." There's even a Facebook page called "that moment you realize they have a cave troll."
