Who would like to see in particular roles in such an adaptation. What I'm going to be doing is posting a role and subsequent posters will put who they would like to see in that role. For example: Morgan Freeman as Eru Iluvatar

I think Toby Kebbell would be good for the role, particularly after his role as Koba, a treacherous and bloodthirsty bonobo in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, so he can do motion capture too. After Melkor is locked into the form of the tyrant of Utumno, he would be voiced by Hugh Keays-Byrne, with Kebbell doing motion capture.

Could you expand on your thinking when you offer cast suggestions?

I admit I don't know either of those two actors. Yet I bet you do. I wonder if a better discussion would ensue if you explained your vision for a Beren & Luthien script - its approach to adapting the text, its concessions to the film medium and to a modern audience that hasn't read the Silmarillion, and its general setting, feel, and visual style. Then add, if possible, your understanding of Madden's and Vikander's acting careers and dramatic styles and physical talents, showing us how you see them as best fits for your ideas about a shooting script. It would also be great to post pictures of actors, in or out of characters they've played, to help us imagine if they fit our pre-existing visualizations of, in this case, Beren and Luthien. I know I'm asking a lot, but I feel I could respond a lot better with that basis for a discussion of casting a projected and hypothetical movie, as opposed to two names I don't know - or even two names I do know, but with no idea of what kind of movie they would be expected to perform in.

Feel free to post them again within this thread after you've resized them to our guidelines in the FAQs.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. Why do you think this man (never heard of him) would be suitable for Elros? What else has he played? How do you imagine Elros's character and what part of his story is going to feature in your film script? I know the OP is longing to start a discussion on casting the Silmarillion and has tried to float the subject several times. But with nothing more than lists of names and random photos there really isn't much for anyone else to discuss.
For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood and every spring there is a different green. . .

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's character in Mad Max: Fury Road, Splendid Angharad, reminded me of Finduilas, a compassionate, beautiful, ultimately doomed woman.
