This one is from MTV's movie blog ... http://www.mtv.com/...85694&vid=226698 The anticipation is KILLING me! Though I would like to see him bring along some of these fellas from his Hellboy cast. I think Ron Pearlman would make a tremendous Beorn. And Doug Jones would certainly make a fine elf.

Oi, I need that Hobbit news or I'm gonna 'splode! (lol) You bring up an interesting point about casting, BuckyUnderbelly. While I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Doug Jones as an Elf, the idea of Pearlman for Beorn had never occured to me. I can't say I'm entirely fond of it; even with some extensive make-up, I can't really match him up to what I had imagined. But you never know...

I'm still quite unpopular on the staff mailing list for insisting that Danny Woodburn would make a great Bilbo. [;)]

... would include: Bilbo: Martin Freeman (or an unknown) Thorin: Brendan Gleeson, Ben Kingsley or Ray Winstone (whoever doesn't get the part would be welcome to play other dwarves, of course) Thranduil: Sam Neil Radagast: Christopher Plummer (Bridge Movie) Beorn: Ron Pearlman (Hey, if ever there was an actor born to play a character who morphs into a giant were-bear, it's Ron Pearlman!) Bard: Hmm ... that's a tough one. I think this would be a great opportunity to cast an unknown actor. I think plugging in a movie star here would be distracting at this point in the film And all returning characters from the trilogy would continue to be played by the original actors, of course. Speaking of the original actors ... I was re-reading The Hobbit recently and I was struck by a particular scene near the end of the book that almost seemed like Tolkien was writing a cameo role without naming the character. I'm projecting of course, but there's something about the way Tolkien wrote the scene that makes it seem like there's more going on than meets the eye. A fellow turns up to find Bilbo after the Battle of Five Armies (once he recovers from his concussion) and the two have a fairly significant dialogue scene. What's strange is, the scene carries a bit of emotional and plot weight ... more weight than you'd expect from a nameless, throw-away character. Which got me to thinking ... what an absolute perfect spot for a certain Ranger we're all familiar with. Just a thought, of course!

It's GDT being interviewed at the NYC ComiCon with Hellboy 2 cast members Ron Pearlman, Doug Jones and Luke Goss. Nothing new. It's more of the same stuff we've seen and read before about how he's hoping to have something to announce this week. But it's fun because of how playful and genuine they all are together. Great chemistry. That GDT sure does seem like good people!

Bucky, thanks for the link, but I am not watching or listening to another GDT link until the Announcment of him as director. (See my post in the thread above.) All this suspense is killing me. I might take a break from TORn after tomorrow. We've been at this point too many times before and we've never been closer. Another link....more artistic info each day, as I interpreted the Riddle... ("add to each day of the week"). This part of the Riddle seems to be correct...but no announcement! With each link, GDT is building up the fans anticipation. We are his secret weapon against the studios now....
