Last Week Tonight With John Oliver is a comedic U.S. political commentary show hosted by the British former correspondent on Jon Stewart's Daily Show. Last month he ran a story about Steven Joyce, the prime minister of New Zealand (which Oliver once described as "Hobbit Australia") and a LOTR-inspired nickname Joyce has acquired that shows, as one of our Bored of the Rings stalwarts has observed to me, how far ahead of their time the Harvard Lampoon writers were. A familiar knighted film director makes an appearance. This seems not to have been mentioned on TORN yet. Here is a link. It's probably NSFW, so proceed with caution.

Steven Joyce is not Prime Minister, he is the Minister of Economic Development (aka 'Minister of Everything'). It's a shame it wasn't John Key as well, he could do with it.
It happened at the beginning of February, associated with Waitangi protests. There is a long and proud tradition here of chucking stuff at politicians.
I didn't post the story at the time because I assumed it would be removed by the mods, but I am crossing my fingers it gets to stay. The more stuff that gets chucked at those guys the better.
