This is the 1st impression of the one volume De Luxe India Paper Edition Hard cover of the Lord of the Rings, published by Allen & Unwin, London, in 1969.

All 3 books in one volume: The Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and the Return of the King on (Bible thin) india paper making all three books only an inch thick.
Paper is very delicate. Bound in black buckram cloth with a stunning front cover depicting Tolkien's design of the Numenorean throne with 'Elendil' in tengwar, stamped on upper cover in gilt, silver and green. Inner cover is grey speckled paper. The endpapers are speckled in green, and there are fold-out maps at the back. The whole thing is housed in the original publisher's slipcase, only the 1st & 2nd impressions were issued with these.
Book Condition: Very Good.
Slipcase Condition: Fair but Worn.
