Work has been really busy and will be that way for the time being, but in a good way. Was able to enjoy the record breaking warm weather this week, but now we're back to the clouds and rain. I refuse to get my boots back out though. Sandals or bust! Having a low key weekend as I'll be out of town next weekend, so just housecleaning/shopping/prepping for my trip and continuing with my House of Cards binge watching. Happy weekend all!

That's great you got an Etsy shop set up - I really like that pink necklace. Good luck with it!

If I told you my story You would hear hope that wouldn't let go If I told you my story You would hear love that never gave up If I told you my story You would hear life, but it wasn't mine If I should speak, then let it be... I've got an exercycle being delivered this morning so that will be the next step in rehab. (The last time I was on a bike would be more than 25 years ago - thank goodness this one is stationary!)

Just had a few minutes between after-school meetings and wanted to stop in and say hi - and I figured this was the best place for it without spamming up the place! (I was inspired by a couple of FB posts about Founder's Day/week I saw earlier, but please feel free to move/delete this if this isn't the place!) Brief literary summary of my last year or so: 1. Got really into Patrick Rothfuss and Scott Lynch (and kind of Brandon Sanderson - love his stories, but his writing is not my favorite) 2. Enjoyed Star Wars VII 3. *Attempting* Wheel of Time series again, although I'm not particularly optimistic. It does not help that the friend loaning the series is assuring me "it gets really good in Book 9". 4. Saw a Batman vs Superman thread down the OT boards - I'll have to check that out! The plot was kind of lacking, but it was fun to watch, and I enjoyed the action sequences. 5. I almost left this one out - I read Hyperion last summer, and it's now easily my favorite sci-fi book. Absolutely chilling story! Brief RL summary of my year so far: 1. Wrapping up my second year of teaching! Woohoo! 2. Writing for a game music website in the meantime. It's very fun! I love getting to speak with different composers and getting review copies of everything! (in exchange for....writing about it?? Yes please!!) 3. On that note, I've also been to a couple of conventions for the first time this year (mostly game and music-related), which were really cool. I definitely could get more into the convention scene. 4. Went to Canada for a week, stunningly gorgeous but way too cold. Back to Texas for me! (even if it is underwater!) Okay, I'm off to go catch up on an average of 9,000 posts per subforum and see how yall are. Good to see everyone again! Edit: I missed the worst jokes ever thread!! Must respond here... Joke 1: What's orange and sounds like a parrot? Joke 2: How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh? . . . . Answer 1: A carrot! Answer 2: Ten tickles

That book is engrossing and mind-bending and disturbing and among my top-10 SF books. Unfortunately I didn't finish book two in the series as I just didn't care about what was happening - a pity, after the wonderfulment* of book one. * I contend that if a word is deliberately made up and the meaning is clear, it's a word!

and finished the series, but the first book is definitely the best.
