(see what I did there?) but no, I don't believe one was based on the other. Subliminal influence, maybe. The third part of Rossini's William Tell Overture seems a bit closer to the Shire theme, IMO.

Outside of the general pastoral mood mentioned above there doesn't seem to be much resemblance. As for getting musical information from You Tube, as Tolkien might have said, "If that's where we get our news we'll never want for moonshine". The website, "a magpie's nest" has a lot of information including references to a couple of pieces that do have some coincidental similarity. And, if the "Doug Adams" above is the author of 'The Music of the LotR Films' I very much enjoyed your book.
