Hmm, BIGGER? [In reply to] Can't Post

Height or Diameter?

MOUNT DOOM
Height: A fairly exact height for Mount Doom can be found in FotR, Mount Doom.
It is 4,500 feet in height.

Diameter: Fonstad in her Atlas of Middle-earth tells us that Mount Doom is about seven miles in diameter.

EREBOR
Height: All I can find (anyone?) is from The Atlas of Middle-earth; she estimates the height at 3,500 feet, as it was snowcapped into late spring.

Also from Fonstad, she estimates the diameter of Erebor at about ten miles (looking at Thror’s map).

So Mount Doom wins the Great Height Contest by 1,000 feet.
And Erebor wins the Great Diameter Contest by three miles.
