Aragorn College Essay

Can't Post

Hi! I am in a Tolkien studies class and I have to write about Strider/Aragorn. The main point of the essay is to find the evidence of his royalty before we are actually ever told about it. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas? I've got some basic ones down, but I didn't want to miss anything. I've got his knowledge of worldly issues and history, his extensive knowledge of different languages, his ease of leadership, his confidence and how we are told he comes from an old line of kings (Though the wrong lineage). And finally, his overall mysteriousness and how no one actually has a solid background on him. This essay is only pertaining to the first book. If you've got anything I missed, that would be awesome!

There's sort of an unofficial policy here against helping posters too much with their Tolkien/Middle-earth homework. But it seems to me that you are doing fine with the topic on your own. A careful reading of Fellowship from the Prancing Pony up to the revelation of Aragorn's identity at the Council of Elrond should give you everything you need.
