Frodo would had adopted Smeagol

If Smeagol would had survived to the destruction of the ring I think Frodo, with the help of Elrond and Gandalf would had adopted Smeagol in bag end in the swift years of life he had ahead after the power that prevented him from aging was gone. Visually it would have being very moving visually to see the Smeagol we know from the films dresed up ike a hobbit but bald and wasted like Gollum like, some how reminds me to the very old Bilbo.

Frodo would have had his hands full. Sméagol, who murdered his best friend (cousin?) within moments of just seeing the Ring, seems to have been something of a villain even in the old days.

...Grubb, Grubb, and Burrowes would have taken him on as a full partner.
****************************************** The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”

That looks like it could be an illustration for a Call of Cthulhu sourcebook. Picture of Sméagol as a Deep One.

when the bad guy drank from the false grail and turned a thousand years old in 2 seconds? He chose poorly. That's how I think Gollum would have died if he hadn't fallen in with the ring.

of Frodo showing so much mercy that he'd adopt Gollum. Maybe you're thinking of Gollum's brief transformation to an old, tired, lonely hobbit before he betrayed the others at Cirith Ungol? My own thoughts are that, with the Ring gone, Gollum wouldn't have had any will left to live. He might have thrown himself into the fire after the Ring. Or if he didn't, I'm not sure he'd fit into Shire society. He'd been eating raw meat and exhibiting other unsavory habits for centuries, and it's hard to teach an old dog a new trick. For that reason, I think Frodo would have set him free to pursue whatever life he wanted in the years remaining to him. Still, I wouldn't underestimate Frodo's kindness. He was certainly forgiving to Saruman, even after the fallen wizard tried to kill him. Who knows what he'd do for Gollum in a post-Ring world where all the rules have changed?
