I think how much I love the appendices [In reply to] Can't Post

relates to how much I love the individual films.
So I love the Two Towers appendices the most, followed by ROTK / FOTR equally.
I have been enjoying the BOTFA appendices the most of the three Hobbit ones. I didn't watch much of the AUJ appendices, but I don't have a lot of interest in that film. I loved the DOS appendices, and I am pretty keen on that film.
I haven't got around to watching the BOTFA EE, so I can't completely confirm my theory yet.

Any LOTR [In reply to] Can't Post

The LOTR appendices had whole sections up front that delved into the life of Tolkien and had many "experts" giving adept analysis of the source material, which is stuff that I really love the most. The Hobbit didn't have nearly enough of that, but I other aspects of it. You really feel like you're journeying with them through the filming process on The Hobbit EE much more than LOTR. If I had to pick one as my favorite, I would go with TT.

Tolkien history [In reply to] Can't Post

I guess they had covered so much already in the first six appendices, seven through twelve were more tied to the movie production.

Still disappointed.... [In reply to] Can't Post

... that neither Bolg nor Thráin got their own profiles, particularly since, along with Azog, they underwent the most changes in terms of both design AND casting. Unsure
