Brilliant article, thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

Sharing this straight away with my fencing friend, who, funnily enough, was a part of the Birmingham University team...

ps. Mispellt 'Tolkien' a couple of times though ;)

Fun piece, thanks [In reply to] Can't Post

It made me think of that silly scene from the remake of 'Parent Trap'!

(And why the consistent misspelling of orcs?)

An interesting woman. [In reply to] Can't Post

The writer of the article seemed ignorant and bigoted, though.

One might refer to this young woman as [In reply to] Can't Post

..."one of the remarkable great-granddaughters of the old Tolkien"! Laugh

I applaud her abilities and her dauntlessness!

The Italian term "sentimento di ferro" means [In reply to] Can't Post

sense of iron, or feel of the blade. It's one of the concepts written by Fiore dei Liberi in his 14th century treatise on swordplay and combat. We studied and practiced that by performing some blade-on-blade drills with our eyes closed (we nicknamed those "the Jedi drills"). Just like it says in the article, with practice you can develop a keen sense of where your opponent's blade is and what he is doing even when you can't see him. It really works.

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters, these see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep. -Psalm 107
