Well, I'm back Can't Post

...But Altaira entered the new url, and so came back to the New Boards, as day was ending once more. And she went on, and there was yellow light, and fire within; and the evening posts were on the New Boards, and she was expected. And her TORnsibs drew her in, and set her in her comfy chair, and put a backlog of Feedback posts in her lap.

She drew a deep breath. Well, Im back, she said.

Its done. The old boards are now read only. (Yes, I cried and yes, I toasted the old girl with champagne as I clicked all the little boxes. I must say, never in my wildest dreams when I first came to TORn did I think Id be doing that one day).

Well have to wait and see how much of the past is accessible once they settle into their new status. In the mean time, the project to resurrect some of the older posts from the past looms on the horizon!

I saved some champagne to toast the new boards too:

To a long, bright future. [In reply to] Can't Post

Awwwww [In reply to] Can't Post

And I didn't get to attend the last Fiesta on the old boards yesterday.

Well, it's painful to see them go. We've had some wonderful times there. But you know, we'll be having some wonderful times here, too.

To our new home! *clink*

Thanks for such a smooth transition [In reply to] Can't Post

and for giving us time to adjust. I did just fine yesterday, but reading your post just now, I have to admit I shed a tear. I'm so soft-hearted sometimes.

Well. *clinks glasses* Here's to the future!

on making the transition! I have not the foggiest what is actually involved in the whole behind-the-scenes business of the boards; thanks for doing all the work it must have taken! Rather like moving house. Here we all are, now... settling in!

Thanks for all you have done, Altaira.
Our 'new' tORn is now home, but the old boards are where we grew together into a family.

Blessings to all,

Lovely way to say good-bye [In reply to] Can't Post

with some Tolkien and some champagne. Thanks, Altaira and BG for giving us such a nice new home. It's a little sad to see the old boards go, but we're still together.

Those old boards have sure seen some sights, haven't they?

Each cloak was fastened about the neck with a brooch like a green leaf veined with silver.
`Are these magic cloaks?' asked Pippin, looking at them with wonder.
`I do not know what you mean by that,' answered the leader of the Elves.

I kept checking the old boards on and off all day... [In reply to] Can't Post

..kind of felt like a bedside vigil, really!

But, you did good. You let people have lots of time to reminisce and say goodbye and ease the transition.

I was honestly surprised, but understanding, at just how much of an emotional experience all of this was.

Considering how much of Tolkien is about endings and things passing away, it was all very, very appropriate.

Here's to the new age!

Make new boards
but keep the old
one is silver
and the other gold

torn will be here while the sibs are friends

Congratulations again for such a smooth change-over!

Old Torn has served us faithfully and it's time to put it out to pasture for a relaxing retirement. I'm sorry I missed the farewell but I'm glad we have New Torn to call home.
