I can sing, pretty well, and I sing all the time.
If I had the power of song, then I'd have a way to bring Tolkien's songs to life (and hopefully the means to make music videos around the world- I'm less interested in touring as I get major crowd anxiety, but I'd love to be able to sing Tolkien songs at locations that remind me of Middle-earth).
Unfortunately, you only said one power, but my other pick would be power of healing. I was studying pre-medicine before a nasty sleep disorder fried my short term memory and I had to withdraw from school (it was so bad I couldn't remember driving or going to class- I was having full blown memory blackouts and it freaked me out- it's less bad now that I'm not struggling to wake up early enough for school, but heaven help me if I set my cell phone down and wait five minutes then I completely forget where I put it!).
If I had the power of healing, then perhaps I can help people more (I also believe that song and music does wonders for people struggling with illness- I have chronic health issues as well, and I find music to be a wonderful, uplifting experience and an excellent way to de-stress, as stress exacerbates my issues and that of many other health conditions).
Ultimately, I think that both healing power and song have the power to heal and help people, and as music runs through every fiber of my being when I'm singing or playing my violin or a piano, I believe it is an excellent way to relax and help people at the same time

I'm not exactly sure how some of these would work, but I chose Voice because it reminds me of the "These aren't the droids you're looking for" Jedi mind trick from Star Wars.
But if it were really possible, I'd go with healing. No question.

but I went with the birds and the bees, er, beasts. I love animals & have often wished I could convey to wild ones that I am no threat to them. I wouldn't want power OVER, just the power of communication with them.

Sorry, something about the phrasing just cracked me up.
Perhaps Sauron should have gone with earrings rather than a ring, the better to whisper the Black Speech without anyone else catching on. 
And despite being very tempted by "awakening trees," I went with healing.

No 'Other'? Even sticking strictly to Middle-earth lore, I can come up with a few other possibilities.
- Mind-to-mind communication
- Understanding bird/animal speech
- Commune with Nature (trees, living rock, etc.)

I grew up listening to opera in the late 40s & 50s. My father was a singer (not bad, sang in church, etc.).
But his favorite was Mario Lanza. He aways said he would give an arm to have a voice like his. (And I almost believed he meant it.)
I recall very well Lanza’s golden tenor voice. (Did I have a choice? Most glad NOW that I didn't!) I remember most especially Be My Love.
I have it on my hard-drive in my car.

You can heal emotional, physical, spiritual, natural and unnatural elements meaning an end to needless pain and suffering for all in nature, including humanity, the earth and any forms of life. That, would be a power worth having.
