Celebrate Bilbo's Birthday! Party Pun Challenge!
|

|
|
Pick a Party Word, and go punning down the river! Here are the rules
- Use the Long Expected Party description in the Fellowship of the Ring (book). If you don't have the book, a partial word list is below.
- Pick any word or name (proper or otherwise) found therein and use it in one or more of the following challenges.
- Put your word in the subject line. (It's perfectly O.K. to use the same word as another post-er, but it has to be used for different pun(s) than in anyone's earlier post.
Partial word list (use is optional. Pick anything from the party section of the book): folk, tunnels, legend, vigour, marvel, money, preserve[d], generous, eldest, live, age, planned, curious, rumour, audience, wag, consulting, roots, forest, drownded, history, vittles, water, shock, silver, bag, pony, foreign, cabbages, elders, squibs Here are the challenges Feel free to attempt any one or more . 1. Use your word to write a sentence, paragraph, or story using all the puns/plays on your word you can possibly think of. Example: Pippin used Bagshot to attempt to shoot down the dragon before it reached Bywater. 2. Find or create a picture illustrating one or more puns or wordplays based on your chosen word. 3. Begin a pun war, using subject lines. Be sure to invite others to the combat. Like this. Subject: Bilbo's party--you couldn't hold a candle to it. "Reply if you dare!" Or "Next!" (Or something to that effect . . .) 4. Create a Single-Handed Pun Tree, something like this. The winner is the one with the most "branches": Enjoy!

Stray but a little and it will fall into my mouth, to the ruin of my hips.
I am SMAUG! I kill when I wish! I am strong, strong, STRONG! My armor is like tenfold shields! My teeth like swords! My claws, spears! The shock of my tail, a thunderbolt! My wings, a hurricane! And my breath, death!

"By Elbereth and Luthien the fair, you shall have neither the Ring nor me!" ~Frodo "And then Gandalf arose and bid all men rise, and they rose, and he said: 'Here is a last hail ere the feast endeth. Last but not least. For I name now those who shall not be forgotten and without whose valour nought else that was done would have availed; and I name before you all Frodo of the Shire and Samwise his servant. And the bards and the minstrels should give them new names: Bronwe athan Harthad and Harthad Uluithiad , Endurance beyond Hope and Hope Unquenchable.." ~Gandalf, The End of the Third Age , from The History of Middle Earth series

Legolas and Eomer are still in it, waiting for Gramma to retire so they can all head out to California via the Garden of the Gods and the Grand Canyon . . .
