We've got a few kegs of 1420 ready to go, an entire rack of Dorwinion red and - for those in need of a pick-me-up - some shots of Miruvor straight from Imladris. So help yourself, grab a bar stool and let us know how your week has been. Cheers, everyone!

It's turned c-c-c-cold again, so a glass of Dorwinion by the fire will be just the thing once the sun's over the yardarm. :) Too many 14 hour days this week, getting the new book ready for its upcoming release. A similar week looms ahead, so I'll try to take it a bit easier over the weekend. There are rumours that the sun may make an appearance, but I'll believe it when I see it. Happy weekend, everyone!

Here's me last Saturday morning, halfway across the lake. My sister took the picture from a kayak; she said that a loon was watching us but she was a little too slow to get it in the picture. The swim was almost half a mile, finished in 22:29 and I could easily have gone farther. Then I got in the kayak and my sister swam across 3 times in 48 minutes. She's an excellent swimmer.

What happened to TORn last night???? I came home after a hard week at work, poured a nice fanta and settled in to catch up on some message board action and then...nothing! All night...nothing! No TORn!!! I sense a lizard conspiracy at work here because NO-one is TALKinG about tHis!!! (It is important to produce random capitals and many punctuationz in conspiracy situations.) Thankfully order has been restored this morning, so the lizards must have returned to their portals. Hooray for the weekend. It was a big week full of drama at work, and lots of staff sickness. It's always like that in term three. I ended up in the classroom for most of the week, which was lovely fun once I let go of the 'But what about all my work?' panic. It's always nice to remember why you got into the job in the first place. Those kids are such a joy. Yesterday it was five years since our first earthquake. For me it was the start of a series of life changing events. It made me reflect on a lot of things, as I watched the TV coverage of the dreadful crisis of humanity that is currently occurring around Europe and elsewhere. Five years ago I had a tiny taste of what it feels like to be a refugee, an experience that I will never forget and something that changed me forever. The response of our Prime Minister to the current situation makes me hang my head in shame.

Cider, maybe a whiskey-and-ginger...bar-keeps choice. This week has been a mixed week; but it seems both hubby and I have good job news (for a change). I had a very good interview today in a lovely practice, because after some intense soul-searching I think I need to make major work changes. I shan't spill too much about the hub's job...but next week I should have a VERY cool picture to post, of his new partner. Its still high-summer warm here, so it feels like summer: pool is a beautiful 83f, veggies and raspberries to harvest every day (I still even have blueberries ripening). My peaches should be ripe this weekend. First apple of the fall season fell yesterday! Have a great weekend all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm off, so more reason to celebrate.

You forgot to take off your tin foil hat thus TORn couldn't get through. Remember: Surfing TORn = hat off. Surfing rest of net = hat on. And for goodness sake don't get that mantra reversed!!!

Sorry for my big OOOPS today! I was relaxing with a morning coffee, all set to start Fiesta, when you-know-what hit the fan with the phone and work email going crazy at the same time. That all made me late for a lunch meeting, so I ran off and forgot to open the bar. For future reference, if I'm ever more than 1/2 hour late, and one of the very lovely and very capable subs hasn't gotten things started, anyone feel free to open the bar, because it's likely that I've been waylaid by a call or a meeting. So, thanks Ataahua for finding the emergency key. Grabs a virtual Campari and soda. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Labor Day weekend is when months of friendship between Wifey and I suddenly became something more. Our friends said there was nothing "suddenly" about it as they could see it coming for weeks. You'd think they would've said something.

Such a relief to know there are others out there who truly understand what is going on in the world. I was so worried about the chemtrails outside the window last night I was afraid to remove my tinfoil hat, and clearly this disabled TORn. There is always a truthful explanation to be found on the internet.

Not to drink, that is, rather to pour over my brain to see if it will stop it from spinning... I was debating opening up the bar at one point, when Friday afternoon craziness suddenly hit the place here, and I found myself being dragged different directions. An Unexpected Conference, The Desolation of Unresponsive Printers, The Battle of the Laptop Locations... Thank you for opening up the bar, Ataahua! And TGIF! I'm looking forward to a three-day weekend.

We've had as much rain so far this year as we did all of last year. And it's meant to continue to be wet until Christmas. I'm quite over it, to be honest. Congrats on ploughing through the work for your book! Let me top up your Dorwinion, there... :)

I did not enjoy hanging out on the doorstep, knocking to get in! Thank goodness the Elves finally realised their mistake and let us back in... I wondered how you were doing on the fifth anniversary of all hell breaking loose from below. Only five years? It feels longer - and that's from someone who hasn't lived through it. Cheers to you, Starling.

Let's blend all those options together and see how you go then, eh? Fresh garden produce by the poolside in summer - that sounds mighty fine to me.

private message, and when I hit send, it had somehow signed me off. I signed on, wrote a whole n'other one, copied and saved it to my computer, then tried to send it, but of course to save face, the site couldn't let me win. It was exactly then that the whole thing quit working. It somehow didn't notice me copying it in and sending it this morning. (Shhhh! Don't tell . . .) What I remember is the resolve and dignity you all faced the Earthquake and the interminably long aftermath with. You're all heroes over there, to me. And I'm guessing many feel the same way about the present crisis that you do. I think we need to do a lot more here as well.

Tomorrow - it's a 1 1/2 hour drive to his house, so I do day-trips to see him. In the past on this weekend, I'd meet him halfway and we'd walk around a country fair together, he loved looking at the farm equipment and animals as he grew up on a farm. But for the past couple of years now it's been hard enough for him to walk just short distances - he's 93 - so hubby and I will spend the day with him instead. And I hope to spend some time just relaxing on the back deck and reading a book and watching the birds at the feeders and the skunks feeding beneath!

Do you know, my mom caused that blackout of the Northeast U.S. back in the mid-60's when she plugged our new ice-cream-freezer into the electric outlet and turned it on? (I'm glad you thought of saving your second draft!)
