As a Yank I know I have no say in it but I live the red white and blue flag with the fern and the Southern Cross. Most tasteful of the four in my humble opinion!

I don't mind our current flag and I don't mind changing to a new one, if it's good. But none of these four inspire me. It doesn't help that there are no designers and no flag experts on the blinking selection panel!
Personally, I think that if we're going to change the flag then it's important that the design includes a Maori cultural motif because they are a treaty partner and should be a visible part of New Zealand's international identity. But the only one of the final four with a Maori motif, the black and white koru, is boring.
I doubt I'll vote in the referendum to pick a finalist to go up against the NZ flag in the second referendum. Perhaps if there's a pitiful turnout, the PM will realise his little project is a dead duck.
