Possible homage to the 1987 LOTR Movie in the Extended Edition? Can't Post

In the trailer for the Extended Edition Trilogy showing in theaters, at about 1:25 there are an army of orcs lowering their pikes, if you look at the orcs they're carrying poles (banners?) that have 2 skulls on it, and in the 1987 LOTR Movie, the orcs when attacking Helms Deep have the same exact thing. I'm not good with uploading pictures here, so I can't show you the pictures, but if you look them up they're similar. Though the ones in the EE seem to be human skulls, but the ones in the 1987 LOTR Movie are like small ram skulls.

"Obviously the idea of being human is a very human idea."
