I've been on my own with the kids all week, so this weekend is awesome for me as My husband has taken them camping until Monday (which is a holiday here). As he is away working during the week, this a good break for me until they return to school in just over a week's time. I'd like a Baileys Irish Cream, please no ice! xx

Just a quiet weekend here, as usual. :) Speaking of which, I'll have a Summer Usual, please. :) Thanks, and I hope you have a great weekend! *hugs*

Coffee, large mugful, heavy on the Bailey's, please! The kids are back in school for three days now, and it's gotten crazy at times getting all the texts checked out and making sure computers and SmartBoards and all the other equipment are behaving. It's supposed to be sunny with low humidity this weekend - perfect for a walk somewhere! And doing some much-needed house cleaning. And maybe just sit in the sun and read a book, iced tea at hand...ah, now that's a "vacation", to me! Are you going visiting this weekend, gramma?

Made it myself, yesterday, with (marginal) help from my Hobbit. He and Beamer and I enjoyed some of it last night. Today, I 'get' to clean the kitchen. ah, well, Coconut Cream Pie is worth it! No big plans for tomorrow, but Beamer has a cello recital to play in on Sunday. I'll grab my summertime usual glass of iced tea and head back to the kitchen. Have a great one, gramma! - Ara

No storms or tornadoes or hurricanes in the forecast in your area? It sure is nice to be out of the humidity for a bit! Enjoy the weekend, Evey!

it's the end of summer vacation and we did... nothing. Ok, not nothing but mostly nothing. We had to put vacation plans on hold because (duh) I forgot to get the kids passports updated and they gave us a stink at the bridge last year coming home from Canada. Geez, you used to be able to get across using your library card! Then, hubby's work had a threatened strike which meant all vacations for management were put on hold. No strike yet but we missed summer. And then I managed to contract a huge case of the f-its and decided I wanted a whole month of not planning anything big because once school started I would be back to scouts, a new novel-writing club for the middle school (based on NaNoWriMo) and trying to work any shifts that pop up. The Scout stuff did pay off though. I worked out-of-town for 3 days last week, called home somewhere in the middle and found that my younger son was making dinner! Fish with a veggie salsa, rice and salad. Not bad! So, for the last weekend, we will hopefully be going down to DC - either the Smithsonian or the Library of Congress. Monday the kids start back to school, older son starts community college, and I start cramming for my Immunization practical. After years of begging my supervisor to be trained (and falling through the cracks every season), I found my own course, paid for it myself and did all the home study. Now it's time to go back through everything once more before I have to go and learn the actual hand-on techniques (shudder ). I hate needles but I need to be trained to stay employed. Have a wonderful time with your mom. It must be so nice to be the "kid" again!
