Actually I'm not sure... [In reply to] Can't Post

Is that a staff? And Azog's arm maybe? One half of that bow looks like Legolas' and the other half is Tauriel's

I don't know Crazy What are the five armies again? Laugh

I am pretty sure... [In reply to] Can't Post

... about the swords being Men, Dwarves and Orcs and the two little things being either - as you said - the ends of an Elven bow or of Elven daggers.

I think the movie's fifth army is supposed to be Bolg so we would not reach 5 but only 4 distinct armies here :)

We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.

The BOFA soundtrack CDs (standard edition) also have a similar motif [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't have my CDs with me just now, but as I recall, they are black and have a circular arrangement of weapons that is not dissimilar to this motif.

I really do love these UK EE DVDs. Whoever the designer is must be a fan Cool

Gorgeous [In reply to] Can't Post

The LOTR EE DVD packaging has always been my favorite of any version of the Middle-earth movies. I'm glad to see that style being continued somewhere.

There's a feeling I get, when I look to the West...

HA! [In reply to] Can't Post

So, something representing each of the Five Armies - like I suggested in my other post. Nice to know I'm not the only one that feels that way - I feel vindicated now!

I'm still scratching my head... [In reply to] Can't Post

Trying to figure out what each item is and who it represents...

But yeah, you were right. Although I'm not sure Dain instead of Thorin would've worked for me. Dain is meant to be a bit of a surprise character, and Thorin is a main character, so I think he would've been better. But I do like your idea overall.

Dain's army [In reply to] Can't Post

carries shields that are 5 sided, as for example in this image:

Yeah, I've noticed that... [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been looking at the weapons and the shield looks more like Thror's shield. I'm probably over thinking what's supposed to just be five simple weapons, but I just can't grasp what each represents individually.

I love it anyway, it doesn't bug me or anything, I just find it interesting.

Those are swords? [In reply to] Can't Post

In Reply To
That is the shield carried by Dain's army
The men's swords
The elves' bow
The orcs' swords
And the... other sword...

It's supposed to be a weapon from each of the five armies.

I just cottoned on to that. I thought the motif was a boss from a shield and didn't notice any swords.Angelic
