Tickets for The Hobbit trilogy EEs in theaters on sale today! Can't Post

BOFTA Theatrical PosterThe day has finally come when tickets for the Hobbit trilogy in theaters are on sale! Fathom Events now has an official announcement on their site regarding the date for the third movie, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which will be shown on Tuesday, October 13, 7:30 local time. The event will include an introduction by Sir Peter Jackson and will be the first time the extended edition of BotFA will be viewed by the public.

The trilogy showing is being sponsored by Fathom Events and Warner Bros., and TORn has confirmed with Fathom Events that this will be a U.S. event only. For the lucky folks who will have a chance to see it, the next question, of course, is: where can I get tickets? A few weeks ago we published this link to movietickets.com where you can search for theaters in your area that will be showing the trilogy. Enter your zip code and the search radius, and you'll get a listing of participating theaters. The "Movies" link at the top of the page can be used to search on the other two films.

The good news is, when I did a search for my area, a number of theaters were listed as showing BotFA on October 13th, including theaters in the AMC, United Artists and Regal chains. The interesting (and possibly bad news for some) is when I did a search on the other two movies, they were listed as showing at only one AMC theater: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey extended edition on Monday, October 5th and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug extended edition on Wednesday, October 7th. However, we urge you to keep checking for more locations either by using the provided link, or by calling you local theater.

I almost don't want to see a trailer. [In reply to] Can't Post

Especially since it's 'only' 20 min. I want to see all the scenes fresh.

BUT...I probably won't be able to resist :)

Remember this is your last chance... [In reply to] Can't Post

This is your last chance to see a PJ middle-earth movie without trailer spoilers, to rediscover this movie and not know what's coming next. It'll be tempting to watch clips or trailers or follow spoilers, but this is the last time you'll be able to feel that surprise again, and it's only a couple of months away.

I guess I could do the trailer, but half-feel I should skip this viewing so I could luxuriate with the disk. But "quarantining" myself is a lot of work and I haven't done that for EEs.

ArghCrazy, I'll probably go if I can, re BOFA's pace - and like Hobbit films in general - you need to see it multiple times anyway to appreciate it and all the wonderful details. And because I can't stand not to - if a viewing will be in my area.Unsure And there's something to be said for seeing Thorin and Thranduil and Smaug and Erebor and the dwarf charge etc. on a big screenHeartHeartHeart

Yes.... [In reply to] Can't Post

I was telling myself that if they released one clip I would watch that, as I did with the one of Elrond and Bilbo from AUJ - but after that I avoided any others. I think I did something similar for DoS. But a trailer is going to include more new things, and I don't want to spoil everything!

Shame that this is for the US only [In reply to] Can't Post

I also noticed that the LotR EE is being shown in some cinemas in the US. They could at least release the LotR EE in a limited amount of cinemas in the UK. I'm sure there would be a big take-up, if enough people were informed about it.

Jolly poor show.Mad

I did notice that none of the "Buy Tickets" buttons/links worked. [In reply to] Can't Post

...and the event wasn't actually on their calendar yet.

Could have something to do with it.

Edit: There wasn't much to it. Here's a cached version without the fancy layout:

Buffalo, NY locations [In reply to] Can't Post

TH:BotFA-EE is scheduled for two Buffalo area theaters (so far), both of them Regal theaters, not AMC:

Regal Elmwood Center 162001 Elmwood Ave.Buffalo NY 14207

Regal Transit Center Stadium 18 & IMAX6707 Transit Rd.Williamsville NY 14221

I'm still hopeful that it will show up at the Quaker Crossing location, which is the Regal nearest to us.

What? [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know what your point is. The Hobbit movies were made in New Zealand, but in every other way they were major, big-budget, Hollywood, tent pole films. They did big box-office in the U.S. as well as overseas. And I'm just posting about the extended edition showing locally. What's your problem with that? Do you have a problem with that? Your post is less than clear.
