For some reason, I missed that original wave. Could be the toddler I was chasing around at the time. Now he's starting high school in a few weeks. *sniffle* What a ride it has been.

I am immensely fond of y'all, and eleven years is too short a time to hang out with such excellent and admirable fans!
Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing? Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing? Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow; The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow....

North shore has less seaweed but its rocky. That is probably out by Montauk (NYC's opposite pole) or Fire Island/Sayville I think.

Took me a while to check out the other boards. Guess you were braver than I.... Notta

Now that you mention the other boards, I was probably playing in the Arena. Ahh, good times...

That's definitely not a fun situation to experience. Glad you're safe and sound.

Unless you count the wave pool at Oceans of Fun amusement park but really... nobody would count that. We do have a lot of fountains though.

I figure we are just close enough to potentially experience some damage from shock waves if the fault ever makes a big move down there.

Waves from Loveland, Colorado!

Yep, that's a real place. Speaking of waves, I've been playing with waves recently. We're about as far from the ocean as you can get, but my latest silliness has been using Paint to edit photos of our little local lakes, hiding the horizon to make them look like the ocean: link Those waves are actually less than six inches high. I also use the slow-motion feature on youtube to turn them into rolling breakers: link

It's very curious, I can tell that some of those are the small waves, but in others it's like the "real thing"! How tall is the "cliff" on the left in a couple of those? I also got a chuckle out of the view-down-the-street ones. That really is what it looks like in my town, but with a smaller two-lane road: you see that line of ocean as you travel south towards the center of the village and the shore. (We're not very built-up along our shoreline here!)

The "cliff" is the stump of a tree, and is about two feet tall. :-D

The view down the street is looking toward Wyoming; that blue line that looks like the ocean is actually the prairie.

Oh gosh...that brings back memories of standing near Pike's Peak when I was a teen, and being amazed at how flat the land east was, and how suddenly the mountains seemed to rise out of it. A tree stump! LOL! And in that perspective, it looks just like a weathered rock-face! Ooh, someone could start a "Guess what this is a pic of?" thread, with "teasers" like these!
