Starting a new script *pours lemonade* [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been mulling over an idea for a few weeks now, and am going to write it this weekend. It's a short, but I have vague ideas for a feature.

Happy to see that we didn't get that mini-heat wave they thought was coming this weekend. Low 80's is acceptable! Cool

Alas, I have some work yet tonight. No plans as of now for the rest of the weekend, which is a-okay for me.

Have a relaxing weekend, everyone. Smile

(Edit: I meant to write this last week, but somehow I always seem to be the at the top of page 2 in FF threads. Interesting timing, I guess. Angelic)

Definitely a scorcher here [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello all! I'm in the midst of a social whirlwind - outdoor summer concerts Weds and Thurs nights, and a Shakespeare in the Park performance tonight (Henry IV Part 1). This weekend is the culmination of Seafair, the annual Seattle festival, with hydroplane races and a Blue Angels air show. Will catch the air show tomorrow, then my brother comes into town (again!) for a family birthday and festivities on Sunday. We're expecting temps to continue in the 90s through the weekend - we've already broken our record for most days at 90+. Will definitely be needing lots of smoothies.

Saw the Blue Moon tonight after the play - it was pretty incredible. This pic makes it look like the sun, but it's really the moon, and you can see how yellow it was by the reflection.

Cool

*Slips behind bar* [In reply to] Can't Post

A nice pinot noir is in order, I think.

Another week of working flat-out on the second draft of my latest novel, despite being somewhat hampered by:
- burnt a finger when loading wood onto the fire (it's still a bit raw)
- same hand: a wasp had hitched a ride on the firewood, and stung me on the palm.

My right hand, and yes, I'm right-handed. I've been soldiering on regardless. :)

I spent most of yesterday trawling through historical legislation to get the details right on something that turned up while processing notes on the 2nd draft. Net result: I added one sentence to the manuscript. No wonder it takes me so long to write a book!

When I was out riding earlier in the week, the sky turned dark and threatening. I decided I'd had enough of a good thing, and headed back. We'd *just* got back and started removing the tack when a huge lightning flash and crack of thunder made all the horses jump. I was glad to be on the ground when the heavens opened!

Oh, almost forgot to say: I've *finished* the second draft! Now it's in beta-reading stage, while I take a break before re-reading it with relatively fresh eyes.

Well this week my dad and nephew will celebrate their respective birthdays together, so there will be a bit of a party. But hopefully if things work out, some time in the near future I can sneak off and get a mani/pedi and/or see a movie. Between my health issues and my dad's, I haven't had much "me time".

Wonderful news! [In reply to] Can't Post

Congrats on your inner fortitude and perseverance! So glad you are feeling better! Thanks, truly, for sharing.

I wasn't aware you had been going through that, zarabia. It could be that I wasn't paying enough attention, in which case I'm sorry for that. (I don't check Off Topic forum much at all, I'm afraid.) Please know my caring thoughts are with you and I hope to keep hearing more about how you're doing, whether it's good news or not, but especially hoping for more good news.

Sincerely,
Rux

He sang Eä! (he let the Ainur in).
Melkor, in jealousy, he sought to mar the symphony

I think I only brought it up once specifically in association with a particular thread and I've shared it with a couple of TORnsibs in pm's. Otherwise, I've only mentioned "health issues". I was torn as to whether I should have brought it up here or not, but this place has become a second home and TORnsibs really are like siblings. Smile

Thank you so much for your caring thoughts, they are much appreciated. Smile

Hello from Charlottesville [In reply to] Can't Post

Son #2 was at STEM scout camp this past week. We decided to make a weekend out of picking him up and went to visit Tom on his little mountain. I love visiting Monticello. It's such a interesting house. And now they have the gardens even more restored than when I was last here. Lots of fruit trees (Hear that Brethil?). It was a beautiful day. We lucked out temp-wise - high 80s to low 90s. I'll take that in August in Virginia. We ate at Michie Tavern and I got some heirloom seeds to plant at home. Today we're going to walk around University of Virginia. When I grow up I want to live in one of the rooms on The Lawn inI front of the Rotunda.

Jefferson was a bit of a pioneer in fruit growing, trying varieties and I think developing some. I bet the Esopus Spitzenberg apple is still grown there which was one of his favorites. He adored peaches too, I think he had about forty types growing.

I really want to go there some day. Cool House is nice but I'll be outside.
