Gamling's fate

In Rotk the last shot we see of Gamling is him riding beneath a Mumakil with his bow and he is not seen again. Has their been any talk in interviews or anything in which Gamling's fate is revealed? Because I cannot remember any.

I remember one of the actors (maybe Karl Urban) saying something about Gamling actually having a death scene.

I can't remember if it was just a rumor though. But if it was shot, then it's another one of the many scenes that didn't even end up in the extended edition.

For a long time, I thought Theoden's line in The Two Towers was, "Who am I gambling?" instead of "Who am I, Gamling". No wonder the response to the line never seemed to make sense.

I've always thought this was Gamling, on the right side of the picture, shown as one of the dead while Eowyn is crawling away from Gothmog: http://i.gyazo.com/16d50d1a5fa12161a84768cf5c175071.png

Are you assuming that movie-Gamling is book-Elfhelm?

In the book, there is a charater named 'Gamling' - an old lietenant of Erkenbrand's, whom he had left in charged of Helm's Deep; nothing is said of him after that battle. Elfhelm was the Marshal of the Muster of Edoras, and indeed did survive the Battle of the Pellenor Fields; but he wasn't at Helm's Deep, not even as a morning-reinforcment (like Eomer in the movies), being sent by Gandalf to protect Edoras.
