I had to break the news to a student...

A student at my school with autism, who is graduating and has talked to me for years about LOTR.....I had to tell him the news, during his graduation practice, even though I knew he'd be upset...I wanted him to hear the news from me, and try to help him manage his grief....because I new he'd freak...he thanked me and said he would cry later. I told him what websites to go to for news, including TORn...he is an artist, and recently drew me a picture of Gandalf the White...I told him it might help if he went home and drew Saruman when he was uncorrupted by the ring. He agreed and may give me the picture by Monday...explaining death to someone with autism is always a challenge because everyone with autism has a unique personality. But it's a joy to teach them and this student and I had another bonding experience over our love of Tolkien and the passing of Sir Christopher Lee...

So many amazing accomplishments. My thoughts go out to his family. I hope the outpouring of condolences from his fans across the world helps them through this time of loss. Namárië, Sir Christopher.

What an amazing man. His life has touched so many others, in so many ways. I'll always be grateful for his portrayal of Saruman, and I loved that he was such a big Tolkien fan himself. RIP, Sir Christopher, and thank you.

I thought you might enjoy listening to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BefliMlEzZ8 His voice is enchanting, and I love this reading of The Raven. (Joys of having broadband now!) Funny how Tolkien's description of Saruman's voice seems to describe Sir Christopher's pretty much perfectly.

Such a long, full, life and such a talented man. Aren't we lucky to have a bit of him as "ours" forever with these films? Farewell, Sir Christopher.

Thanks. He has such a voice, but his reading of The Raven is pure him - he gets where it needs to go, and how to make you feel it.

I did enjoy his Dooku as well as Saruman. He seemed a happy and fulfilled person; ironic that he played the other side so very well.

I awoke to a text from a friend informing me of his passing. What a tremendous actor and fascinating man. Much of my free time today was spent reading about his life. I never knew he hosted SNL back in the 70's. There's so much one can do in 93 years. Oddly enough he passed on my birthday. If anything it inspires me to do more with my life. A soldier, actor, sith and wizard, heavy metal star. What a guy.

https://www.facebook.com/...ee/10153256069616558 Wonderfully written. Interesting to see PJ calls him "Chris" and to hear of Sir Christopher Lee's pride in working with Tim Burton. I remember when receiving his Fellowship award he called Tim Burton "one of the great directors of our age".
