I've been seing ads [In reply to] Can't Post

for this Saturday June 13th on TNT. And yes, I'm currently watching FOTR on TNT because I can't not watch it whenever it's on! Will love to see AUJ added to the rotation (although I'm not sure I'll ever be able to watch an edited for tv version since I basically have it memorized!)

THey re-edit movies for tv? In what country, the US? That's so unrespectful to the artists that created it!

Half a league, half a league, half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death, rode the six hundred.
'Forward, the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns' he said:
Into the valley of Death rode the six hundred.

Theirs not to make reply, theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death rode the six hundred.

Yes, unfortunately. [In reply to] Can't Post

Most movies shown on television in the states are edited for time, so that they fit into the standard half-hour increments (starting and ending either on the hour or the half hour), minus advertising time. This also happens to most imported tv shows.

It's done because commercial television business model here is dependent on advertising dollars, so they allot so many minutes per hour to ads and the content is designed to run in the remaining time. That's why "hour-long" shows from the US usually run around 45 minutes, or a little less. So if a show runs 48 minutes, at least 3 minutes will be cut when it airs here.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.

And here was I being annoyed with Belgian tv companies soemtimes zooming instead of letterboxing the frame.

Good [In reply to] Can't Post

Although I thought they would premiere it much earlier. It's funny that a local tv station here in Puerto Rico premiered AUJ this past Tuesday, even before than TNT, the only channel that plays LOTR movies regularly. It may be the same with DOS.
Still, don't know if I will be able to watch it...
I have to study for my Calculus exam this Monday D:

It's showing now on ITV in the UK [In reply to] Can't Post

They've cropped it to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Which isn't such a bad thing, lots of people don't realise it was shown in an (almost) 16:9 aspect ratio in IMAX cinemas, so it's actually designed to work within that frame.

I hope they've also made some scene cuts Tongue

Do they? [In reply to] Can't Post

I never watch films on TV if I have the DVDs. Now I'm jolly glad I don't - I'd be so frustrated if they suddenly skipped a scene!

So I've been watching for the last hour [In reply to] Can't Post

Got home from Jurassic World and dinner, and watched from the White Council to Riddles in the Dark. I was pleasantly surprised to find that nothing appears to have been cut, but one thing I didn't expect - my DVD and Blu-ray look so much better! It loses some of the vibrant color that I'm used to, which is one of my favorite things about this movie.
