What's the best show on television these days?

I didn't dare make any suggestions - I'm not up on many of the shows, and it would be too long a list to make a poll. But after reading the argument on Off Topic about Game of Thrones being "the best show on television," it got me wondering. What would you call the best show on TV, right now? For me it would probably be "Elementary." The show continues to surprise me and keep my interest high after three seasons. Jonny Lee Miller is a superb Holmes and Lucy Liu as Watson makes an excellent foil (very different from the usual Watsons). The gender-bending doesn't stop with Watson; Jamie Moriarity is a woman, and Ms. Hudson the housekeeper is a transgender played by a real transgender actress. What's your favorite?

No Reservations (and its iterations); used to like Deadliest Warrior, but it's not on anymore.

It was an easy choice for me, as it is the only show I watch -- I suffer from serious commitment phobia when it comes to TV series.

I just returned from a little trip to the city, which included, among other things, a visit to the book shop where I finally took the plunge and bought the five-book boxed set. So, no, I haven't, but I'm about to. A bit of light summer reading, you know. I've been pondering reading the books ever since I discovered the show back in 2013. For a while I thought I'd wait till the show has ended, but, like you mentioned, now that it has drifted into new, uncharted territory, I decided there's no point in waiting any more. Plus, I really need something to comfort me after Season 5 concludes on Sunday (well, Monday here). Did you read them in English or in Italian?

My TV provider is a thirty foot antenna.... sometimes I watch stuff on PBS (Nature, Nova, all great)... also Sherlock turns up there, and I love it. Have not seen elementary, so really can't comment, though I have a prejudice toward Sherlock, so there. About the only thing I've been following is Agents of SHIELD because of the connection to the Marvel films. It's gotten very good (and complexicated) in its second season. A friend is fond of Once Upon a Time. I can't watch GoT, too violent and dark.

It would have felt odd to go with a translation after watching the show in English for five seasons.

Well, Konrad, all I can say is that you probably don't want to check out what my wife and & have been watching: Hannibal. featuring the Hannibal Lecter character from the Thomas Harris novels and the films based on them. It's debatable whether it is the best show currently on broadcast television, but it is certainly the most stylish!

"Sitting around, smoking marijuana, eating Cheetos and masturbating do not constitute ‘plans.’” –Bracegirdle ” My comment: Smooking Marijuana? What are you watching on, pepole´s take drugs? Yes, "Breaking Bad" was about a man - Walter White - who makes drugs to sell. He has cancer & wants to provide for his family when he dies, but of course become a drug dealer means he has lost his grip on most of his former values. Not a show for children. "You just cracked me up, dearest!" –Brethil ” My comment: ? That's an American idiom meaning "you made me laugh." "Game of Thrones" – Blackfox ” My comment: .... First i have seen the trailer,....... WHAT DO U WATCH ON, That Freaking Digusting, and Bloody, BUt Disgusting! It's on HBO, a "premium" channel you have to pay extra for. And yes, many agree that it's not a pleasant show. Not for children! "My favourite as well" – Elanor of Rohan ” My comment: .... not more game of thrones As this thread shows, it's a favorite of many. Not mine! "The Walking Dead" – Brethil ” My comment: That sounds bloody Zombies are very popular here too. Yes, bloody. Also not for children. "And Adventure Time" – Brethil ” comment: Really -.- a stupid dog and a stupid boy. The one show on this list that someone of your age should like! What's YOUR favorite show? That was the question. You do know that the rules of this board include not criticizing others' opinions, yes? Okay to disagree but not call names.

But to add, Walking Dead can be bloody but it is about us as people and how the end of life as we know it changes us. NOT for everyone though! I can handle things about survival but not stuff like GoT. Its all what your individual mind can cope with. And I must say that I simply adore Finn and Jake. I even have Finn's hat.

Walking Dead -- really want to know HOW the Alexandria folk have remained so oblivious. And wouldn't the fact that they have lights at night have already drawn the attention of wandering bad guys (not the dead ones... the living ones) Elementary Last Ship Falling Skies (though am glad it's on last season as it jumped the shark a few times already) Wayward Pines (debating whether to try to find the books or wait for the tenth episode before seeking them out) Forever -- it got cancelled but had potential.... Helix -- I watch with utter disbelief.... 12 Monkeys --- not certain they are maintaining their own "rules" of time travel. Too much TV
