One of the few things I know about music in Middle-earth
[In reply to]

is that it was because of the endless troubles with the Ford of Bruinen that Sauron & Glorfindel composed that music asking for a Bridge over the Loudwater, which, surprisingly, made such success among ring waiters that eventually it was recorded live (or almost) at the Mandos Hall. Things would have been different, though, had Mr. Bruinen, who drove the last homely cab east of the Forsaken In, bought a Volvo suv instead.

This made me chuckle, Plurmo! I night imagine hearing them perform such lyrucs as: Sauron: Hello Darkness my old friend, I've come to talk with you again.... Glorfindel: (to Frodo) Put it in a hiding place where no one ever goes. Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes.... Sauron: I am a rock, I am an island. Glorfindel: Hang on to your hopes my friend.... If it were Simonwise and Gaffer-uncle, they might do this one.
*** Eru Ilúvatar lived in a timeless state, Then he created the Ainur to sing his magnum opus. Wait…. The one who had most power, Melkor, sang his section sour, Ilúvatar got rather dour, He sang Eä! Hello darkness, my old friend I’ve missed you so, where have you been? Down in the dungeon softly creeping Gollum escaped while I was sleeping; But the mission that was planted in his brain Still remained Within the Land of Shadow For restless nights I sat alone Played solitaire with knuckle bones Remembered eyes glowing like streetlamps Shining down there amid the cold and damp. Then my eye I dab with the edge of my handkerchief, But no relief. I'm stuck right here within the Land of Shadow. In muddy Mordor light I saw Ten thousand minions maybe more Watchers talking without speaking Orcs all hearing without listening Who were growling songs voices should never share Why would they care If they disturbed the Land of Shadow? “Fools," said I "why do you howl? Don't you know I am your pal? Hear my words that I might reach you, (take my arms that I might eat you, [Burp!])" But my words just clanged like the stony Watcher’s bell And echoed in the Land of Shadow All the free peoples laughed and brayed In that ridiculous parade As Orodruin flashed out it's warning My pretty ring was now un-forming The signs seemed to point to some cracks in my castle walls And as they fall, There's no more Land of Shadow!

...that the names Elrond, Elrohir, Elladan, Elros, and Elendil were their stage names from their Mexican Luchador days. I thought Eldamar was the resort in Cabo where I experienced my worst sunburn. ...that there was an actual member of the Valar named "Morghulis" that another author "borrowed". ...that if I were to get to Tol Eressea, or Tol Brandir, I would need my EZ-Pass or I'd get stuck on the cash-only lane.

"Let us be onward, We’ll share an adventure together." Leaving my real estate Seems like a drag. I forgot to pack a handkerchief, Was missing pork-pot pies, As we trudged off to look for Rhovanion. “Gandalf”, I said, once he'd saved us from trolls and their spit roast, Hobbiton seems like a dream to me now. It took us five weeks to end up at Rivendell. “I’ve come to look for Rhovanion.” Riddles in the dark, Playing games with the creature, He croaked: “This thing gnaws iron, grinds stone into meal." I cried “TIME!" I asked, mistakenly, “What have I got in my pocket?" "Where is the Arkenstone?" I’ve kept it safe in my pillow. Thorin’s unhinged and I’m itching to go. So I stole down the barricade To meet the Elvenking, And the clouds massed over the battlefield. “Farewell good thief,” Thorin said, lying wounded and bleeding, “I’d take back my words and deeds ere our goodbye." Thinking as I write the Red Book of Westmarch: We’d all come to look for Rhovanion, All come to look for Rhovanion, All come to look for Rhovanion.
