I know so little about Middle-earth that I thought... ...'narsil' was a decongestant. ...'glamdring' was Alice Cooper's trim phone. ...Nori, Dashi and Sushi were Japanese dwarves. Your turn?
~~~~~~ "nowimë I am in the West, Furincurunir to the Dwarves (or at least, to their best friend) and by other names in other lands. Mostly they just say 'Oh no it's him - look busy!' " Or "Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!" My avatar image s looking a bit blue, following the rumbling of my 2 "secrets" : http://newboards.theonering.net/...i?post=855358#855358 This year LOTR turns 60. The Chamber of Mazarbul was where the Dwarves baked almond cookies. Goldberry was the daughter of Chuckberry. Orodruin was what Middle-earth used for toothaches.
****************************************** I met a Balrog on the stair. He had some wings that weren't there. They weren't there again today. I wish he would just fly away.
Zirak-zigil was a motivational speaker. Ents were segmented, hill-dwelling insects. Minas Ithil was a mathematical operation I had missed learning (and mis-pronounced)
Rookie mistake there, O-S. You're thinking of "Red Arrow." You mean that Thea isn't going to stick with 'Speedy'?
We were looking at collectables and I said "look at this" and picked up a Ringwraith statue. She says "that's cool!" and I reply "No, no. It's pronounced Nazgúl" Silly joke, but it made us laugh. I know so little about hobbits! I thought Frodo was a hairstyle Hamfast was a McDonalds delivery service? Rosie Cotton was a scented candle I won't even tell you what I thought Bandobras meant.
I thought The Lord of the Rings was going to be a PT Barnum biopic. I thought Glorfindel was going to be something that pairs well with red meat dishes, and that its milder relative, White Glorfindel, would be confusingly blush-colored, not white. Also, Rhosgobel is nice choice for champagne, don't you think? I thought Rivendell was a town in Southern CA where Buffy slew vampires in her high school. No, I must be thinking of Dimrill Dale... Misty Mountains. Didn't I see her in a late night movie last night on Cinemax? And Gladden Fields. I keep forgetting, which Bond movie was she in...? Wasn't The Road Goes Ever On a track on the Beatles' final album before the break-up? Paul on vocals: "The Road goes ever on (orchestra: bom bom!) / that leads to your door...." The idea of Esgaroth might seem strange at first, but trust me: it goes really well when dipped in garlic and butter sauce. Especially well with a glass of Glorfindel (or Rhosgobel.) Isengard: works WAY better than Visine. My eyes were itch-free all through allergy season. I thought Earendil was where Elsa and Anna lived, and...oh great, now my two daughters are singing Let it Go *AGAIN*. The Star of Earendil was clearly Elsa (and yet Anna got most of the screentime and a happy romance ending...just sayin'...)
*** Some say home, it is a shelter where one hides from the rain. Some say home, it is a treasure great hosts rise up to claim. Some say home, it is a memory that burned bright in the flames. I say home, it’s the beginning where you come back again. It’s the feet afraid of walking that never learn to run. It’s the stone afraid of losing that never can be won. It’s the bow afraid of yielding that cannot seem to bend, And the pride afraid of bowing that never keeps a friend. When the fight has been too bloody and the road has been too long, And you think that home is only for the lucky and the strong, Just remember, on the mountain, in the wild and bitter snow, You will find your seed of courage, and you'll earn your journey home. * * * https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3SVXz3TFr8
