My RIDDLES finally dropped

off page one (at least on my computer). So here’s 3 more real easy ones…. 1. As a color you would see Of the primaries its wavelength longest. Middle-earth it helped to free Of the twenty not the strongest. What am I? 2. Glowing first as Moon and Sun, a shining on high. Next gleaming quenched, shrouded did lie. Blazing last as westering sun, once more the battle-cry. What am I? 3. I’m the first or the last, A pause for the weary. Near the Edge of the Wild A cause to be cheery. What am I? {Official Riddles Rules obtained from The Authorities across the Westering Sea:} “If you’d like to guess pray do not scroll down and peeksee at other’s answers. One must use his or her own inborn insight in his/her quest for truth.”

...is Rivendell. As for number 2, I'm thinking a star(s), but "once more the battle-cry" is confusing me. Number 1... Narya!

1. Narya, ring of fire, passed from Cirdan to Gandalf. 2. Narsil/Anduril 3. Rivendell

1. As a color you would see Of the primaries its wavelength longest. Middle-earth it helped to free Of the twenty not the strongest. Answer: Narya, the Ring of Fire The color red has the longest (visible) wavelength Narya the Great had the power to invigorate dispirited hearts, but was not the strongest of the 20 Great Rings of Power. It was set with a single red gem. #3 (Rivendell) is an acceptable answer that hadn’t come to my mind, and is probably closer to true than the answer I had in mind. . . Grrr. Well, gotcha so far on #2. Thanks Gianna

2. Glowing first as Moon and Sun, a shining on high. Next gleaming quenched, shrouded did lie. Blazing last as westering sun, once more the battle-cry. Answer: NARSIL – The SHARDS of NARSIL – ANDURIL The bright (glowing) sword of Elendil had a device of seven stars set between the (moon) and (sun). After its breaking the shards were kept covertly at Imladris, its vivid sheen apparently dulled (shrouded did lie). When reforged as Anduril (The Flame of the West), the sun gave it a bright red countenance (blazing last). 3. I’m the first or the last, A pause for the weary. Near the Edge of the Wild A cause to be cheery. (My) Answer (thinking more of “hospice” or “tavern”, but yes, Rivendell is closer to “the edge of the wild”. The Forsaken Inn The (last) hospice on the Great East Road if traveling west to east – or the (first) if traveling east to west. #1 explanation above.....

I read the last two lines of #1 together: "Middle-earth it helped to free Of the twenty not the strongest" And I couldn't think of 20 anything that had been freed, much less which one of them wasn't the strongest (and what had freed it...) At least the mediocrity bench has comfy pillows! Notta

That’s what makes TORn so much fun. The written word is so easily misinterpreted and it often takes a half-dozen posts to make a point. Speaking of the ‘mediocrity bench’, I’ll have a seat. As I wanted to make a riddle about the Forsaken Inn (#3), but I didn’t think it through thoroughly, and am justly embarrassed.

At least when Fiesta comes around :) And I can see your riddle works great for the Forsaken Inn, but glad you're accepting Rivendell for us benchers.

I haven't been on TORn for two months due to crazy life, so I can understand the "dead thread" thought Thanks I love riddles. When AUJ came out, the hobbit website had a ton of riddles in a riddle game, and it was a blast! I miss that.... Yup I'm good
