When scientists have fun.

For some reason, it particularly tickles me when scientists have fun with their work. Take GNS Science for instance - it has cameras at New Zealand's volcanoes that GNS uses to help keep track of any activity occurring. On the crater floor of the White Island volcano, someone added a purple dinosaur as a permanent feature: http://www.geonet.org.nz/.../whiteisland/cameras Do you have any examples of scientists cracking a funny?

White Island was a familiar sight when I was growing up. I miss it sometimes. :) Love the dinosaur.

but a local dentist had a weather cam set up on his porch for years, looking over a local bay towards the mountains - you could get the last four hours of weather in a couple of minutes, fun to watch the clouds go by (or the boats, on a nice day. When snow was forecast he'd stick a bobblehead doll on the railing of the porch so you could see how deep the snow got. https://youtu.be/GPaPgECLvKc

It's a shame it wasn't a glow in the dark dinosaur!
