Just one I can think of [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting one, but the one that comes to mind right away is the 6-hour BBC Pride and Prejudice (the classic one with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle Smile). I know, it's not really a movie per se... But whatevs! Laugh

"Try" [In reply to] Can't Post

I quote that Hugh Laurie line a lot. The tone of voice and delivery were perfect.

And Colonel Brandon *sigh*

One of my favorite movies and casts.

Heeheehee Yes! [In reply to] Can't Post

Loved his character, even though we only saw it for a short period of time. That line and Emma Thompson's Elinor "I doubt she drew breath since we left London." as they are getting out of the coach at Cleveland Park... Oh my gosh... That is Jane Austen for me; that understated dry wit. Emma Thompson captured it beautifully with her script.

that was the first role [In reply to] Can't Post

where I thought "oh my, Hugh Laurie can be sexy!"

uh . . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

no.

It was the nightshirt I think.

Later I read Emma Thompson's description of him:

Quote
He is one of those rare people who manages to be lugubriously sexy - like a well-hung eel

and thought, "yeah, that describes him."

Also heard Stephen Fry talk about how Hugh had made the career decision "to be handsome" rather late.

I'll watch any interview that includes Emma Thompson. [In reply to] Can't Post

She is delightfully mad and wonderful. :)

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Constantine the series [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd recommend checking out the single season of Contantine that aired on NBC. It turned out to be a pretty good show that was doomed by a bad timeslot (Friday nights).

Better yet, if you don't mind reading comics, try a couple of the Hellblazer graphic novels/collections. You can probably borrow some from your local library system.

It seems that the DC Universe is being rebooted again--and everyone's favorite blue-collar mage (unless you prefer Harry Dresden) along with it: http://www.bleedingcool.com/...-11-punk-rocker-now/.
