There is something about Bilbo´s farewell at Erebor that I dont totally buy

I dont remember exactly how the book goes but in my mind there is a picture of him saying farewell infront of the gate, with all dwarves reunited alongside Gandalf, Beorn and the entire host of dwarves and men, and Erebor in fully splendour of an upcoming spring In the movie it is shown that right after the battle Bilbo leaves, even his clothes are dirty still. I dont buy it completely, come on, every one in his senses would have rest after such a day. It diminish the sense of belonging to the party, that you leave right after the job is done, considering the LONG journey home they had to take. Yes I know that in the movie Bilbo doesnt want to stay because he feels bad for Thorin, but come on, almost anyone with a bit of culture in the western world would have stayed to the funeral, and considering the distance to travel would have prepared himself a bit more. Also I would have loved to see a huge amount of gold being delivered to Bilbo, but him refusing, that would be nice

Bilbo DOES stay for the funeral. We just haven't gotten to see it yet. And we already know from FotR that Bilbo isn't the best at saying goodbye.

Sorta of a Sunday Church Service... LATER they have a "WAKE for the Three" Songs, Feasting, Telling Stories, etc. Only then can they PASS into Legend. THERE is Whole 10 minutes between the Waterfall & "EXIT STAGE Right" for Bilbo & Gandalf... possibly walking away with Beron & Radagast, would bee.. WAyCOOL

Richard Armitage says that Gandalf gives a speech at the funeral. And Gandalf leaves with Bilbo, so that means Bilbo will be there in the extended edition.

IT should have a slow PACE, like any Funeral & if Gandalf gives Speech? IT Should be a, a, a, Speech of "SPECIAL MAGNIFICENCE".

I'm not sure what makes you think it is Spring. The Battle of the Five Armies would have taken place in November and (in the book) Bilbo, Gandalf and Beorn left Erebor in time to reach Beorn's house before the end of December and Yule. I agree with the others; this scene takes place after Thorin's funeral. I also found it ridiculous that Bilbo in the movie left without even a single chest of treasure (except the one he recovers from the Troll lair).

Especially when they've cut the runtime as much as they have for BOT5A. For all I know a week has passed between Thorin's death scene and Bilbo's leaving. There's no reason to think it was the same day.

It's always very hard to tell how much time has passed in the movie, but at Bilbo's farewell we at least have some clues in the fact that the walkway in front of Erebor has been covered by wooden planks and that enough supplies have been brought inside for a feast, which means that the more urgent problem of tending the wounded and burying the dead has probably been dealt with. I just assumed when watching this scene that some time had passed since the battle and that things were settling down.
