Interesting concept: Living memories Can't Post

As part of a road safety campaign, five NZ families have worked with age progression specialists and Weta Digital to create portraits of lost family members as they might look now, had they not become a sad road toll statistic.
The idea is to help people consider and understand the lost potential of those killed in vehicle accidents, and to recognise the ongoing impact on families.

You can have a look here on the site, click on a picture of a person as they might look now, and then hover over the picture to see a photo of the person at the age they died. Families have contributed a story about their loved one.

It's certainly a stark reminder of all that lost potential. Thoughts?

Presumably it's done with family consent - [In reply to] Can't Post

although it might well be upsetting for them to be reminded of what they've lost in such a visual way. If it helps improve road safety by making people think, then I'm all for it. Anything that miight stop people behaving like idiots and putting their own and other lives at risk is worth a try.

upsetting or comforting [In reply to] Can't Post

I lost a brother when he was 10 (in an accident, but not car-related). I've always wondered what he'd have looked like as an adult. He didn't resemble either of my other brothers so it's a mystery.

People with soul can identify with another person's basic human struggle without either judgment or indifference.

From interviews I have read with some of the families, [In reply to] Can't Post

they found it confronting, but also comforting. They were all very involved with the process, and it gave them a chance to talk through some of those 'what ifs'.
My father was 35 when he died and I sometimes wonder what he would have looked like as he got older.

I am sorry you lost your brother. Was he older or younger than you?
