http://newyorktolkienconference.com/ Anyone from TORN going? I am definitely going. Sounds like an amazing panel of discussions and talks and it's a Tolkien geek's dream. :) Hope to see some of you there!!!!!
"By Elbereth and Luthien the fair, you shall have neither the Ring nor me!" ~Frodo "And then Gandalf arose and bid all men rise, and they rose, and he said: 'Here is a last hail ere the feast endeth. Last but not least. For I name now those who shall not be forgotten and without whose valour nought else that was done would have availed; and I name before you all Frodo of the Shire and Samwise his servant. And the bards and the minstrels should give them new names: Bronwe athan Harthad and Harthad Uluithiad , Endurance beyond Hope and Hope Unquenchable.." ~Gandalf, The End of the Third Age , from The History of Middle Earth series

Even though we are at the other end of NYS, I don't anticipate being able to attend. Finances will not allow it.

Yeah, the best we can manage for now is making local comics and game conventions. We do expect to be at Queen City Conquest again this September (which again intersects with Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19) where I will probably sign up to run a session of either The One Ring or Hobbit Tales the story-telling card game.

I also plan to be there, and have my ticket already. Lucky that I am only about a mile from Baruch College. I might get there a little late as I am working till midnight! IF they have nametags, I will be sure to write in TORN under my name.

Sounds like fun. I work the evening shift, however? But I would still like to know where and when they have meetings. I arrived late, around noon, but still caught most of the day. It is exciting that they plan to do this yearly.
